Pakistani Passport Holds Limited Travel Freedom, Ranking Reveals

The latest Passport Index report has been released, revealing the ranking of passports from around the world. Unfortunately for Pakistani citizens, the country’s passport has been ranked as the fourth weakest in the world.

According to the report, Pakistan’s passport is ranked 103 out of 106 countries. This is a disappointing result, especially considering that Pakistan held the same ranking in 2024. Yemen is tied with Pakistan at the same ranking, sharing the same level of travel restrictions.

The Passport Index report evaluates the strength of a passport based on the number of visa-free destinations it offers. In this regard, Pakistani citizens face significant travel restrictions, with visa-free access to only 33 destinations. This limited mobility can make it difficult for Pakistanis to travel abroad for business, education, or tourism.

In contrast, citizens of Singapore and Japan enjoy much greater mobility, with visa-free access to many more countries. Singapore’s passport is ranked as the best in the world, while Japan’s passport comes in second. These countries’ strong passports reflect their stable economies, strategic locations, and favorable international relationships.

At the other end of the spectrum, Afghanistan’s passport is ranked as the worst in the world. The country’s ongoing conflict, economic instability, and security concerns have all contributed to its poor ranking. The Passport Index report serves as a reminder of the significant disparities in global mobility and the need for countries to work towards improving their international relationships and travel freedoms.
