Punjab has taken a strong stance against crimes targeting women, with Chairperson of Women Protection Authority Hina Parvez Butt emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy. During a press conference in Okara, Butt commended the police for apprehending those accused of sexual harassment.
Butt stressed that honor killings and acid attacks must be eradicated through strict enforcement of the law. This commitment to protecting women is reflected in the statistics, with 743 cases of violence against women resulting in arrests in 2024, as reported by DPO Rashid Hidayat.
The government’s efforts to safeguard women’s rights have been recognized by MPA Muhammad Muneer, who noted that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has taken unprecedented measures to protect women.
MNA Chaudhry Nadeem Abbas Ribera echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the need for comprehensive protection for women
