In a significant development, Starlink, the satellite internet service provider founded by Elon Musk, has been registered in Pakistan. This move is expected to revolutionize the country’s internet landscape, particularly in remote areas where traditional internet services are scarce.
Starlink’s innovative approach uses space satellites to provide internet services, unlike traditional providers that rely on wired connections. The company boasts that its satellite internet can be accessed from anywhere, whether it’s the depths of the ocean, the heart of the jungle, or even during air travel.
The arrival of Starlink in Pakistan is expected to bridge the digital divide, enabling people in remote areas to access high-speed internet. Although the service is yet to be officially launched, it has already generated significant interest.
However, the price of Starlink’s internet packages may come as a shock to many. The monthly charges for the home package are approximately PKR 35,000, offering internet speeds of 50 Mbps to 250 Mbps. Additionally, users will need to pay a one-time device fee of PKR 110,000.
The business package is even more expensive, with monthly charges of PKR 95,000, offering internet speeds of 100 Mbps to 500 Mbps. The device fee for this package is PKR 220,000, payable only once.
Lastly, the mobility package, designed for users on-the-go, comes with a monthly fee of PKR 50,000, offering internet speeds of 50 Mbps to 250 Mbps. The device fee for this package is PKR 120,000, payable only once.
While Starlink’s internet packages may be pricey, they offer a unique solution for those in need of reliable, high-speed internet in remote areas. As the service prepares for its official launch, it will be interesting to see how it fares in the Pakistani market.
