This job involves physically loading, unloading, and sorting packages by hand in a safe and efficient manner as a Package Handler. The role includes lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying parcels throughout various positions like Loader, Unloader, Palletizer, Scanner, and Quality Assurance. Responsibilities may rotate and require attention to detail in sorting packages based on destination or shipping method. Specialized roles such as Trainer or Air Package Handler require additional training. So The position demands consistent physical effort over 3–5 hour shifts.
Responsible for the physical loading, unloading and/or sorting of packages by hand and including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying and placing and in a safe and efficient manner. Package Handlers (PHs) may be assigned to or rotate through various areas and positions.
Responsibilities
- Package Handler Trainer: So Trains other PHs on loading, unloading, palletizing, and scanning techniques because in order to ensure efficient and safe movement of packages through the operation.
- Package Handler – Air: So Responsible for a multi-step package inspection process to ensure packages because that are “Air Restricted” are not loaded into an air container.
Essential Functions
- Loads and unloads packages onto or from delivery vehicles and trailers, pallets, conveyor system carts and load gratings.
- Lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages on a continuous and repetitive basis for approximate shift of 3-5 hours, with potential of working one or more shifts each day
- Utilizes “hand-to-surface” methods for all package handling.
