KIWIGATES LIMITED, located in East Tāmaki, Auckland, provides a range of metal fabrication services. Work involves welding and all related tasks. Work locations can be varied but are within the greater Auckland region.

KIWIGATES LIMITED, located in East Tāmaki, Auckland, provides a range of metal fabrication services. Work involves welding and all related tasks. Work locations can be varied but are within the greater Auckland region. This is a permanent full-time role. You must be available to work from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday with optional weekends, depending on the timeframe of each project.
Hours and Wages
Minimum 30 hours of work is guaranteed weekly. Up to maximum 50 hours per week may be available from time to time.
Wage range is $28 per hour, with potential to earn $ 840 to $1400 per week
Duties of The Role:
- Studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements
- Selecting, cleaning and preparing metal stock
- Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines
- Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering
- Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
- Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting
- Examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision
- Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions
- Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding
Requisite Competencies
- 3 years’ relevant experience
- Physically fit with ability to lift 50+ pounds
- Be comfortable working at heights and on ladders
- Awareness of health and safety requirements and high safety-consciousness
- A keen eye for detail
- Reliable & able to get to work on time at a variety of site locations
- The right to work in New Zealand
